Joe McElderry has posed for a picture with his trophy after winning the first series of The Jump.

Former X Factor winner Joe, 22, skied to victory last night (3 February) after beating off competition from fellow finalist Donal MacIntyre.

Sir Steve Redgrave was also due to appeared in the final, however he pulled out after aggravating a rib injury in a practice run hours before the C4 show went on air.

Meanwhile, Marcus Brigstocke had also been set to compete in the final, but he too bowed out after hurting his knee badly during the first Ski Cross heat.

Marcus later said: "I came on the jump and never jumped!"

This left Joe and Donal going head-to-head on the final ski jump. Joe managed to jump 17.5m, beating Donal, who only managed 13.5m.

Originally a reserve, Joe stepped in after Henry Conway broke a finger. He now taken to Twitter to express his delight at winning.

"Wow wow wow what a night!!! Buzzzing!!!!!!" he told his fans.

Thanking the people working behind the scenes, Joe added: "Thank you to all crew, production, medics, physios, trainers for helping us all to get through. The show was soo much fun!!"

This is the third reality show Joe has won. After claiming victory on The X Factor in 2009, he also won Popstar To Operastar in 2011.
