The cast of The Inbetweeners are heading Down Under this week, as they begin filming for their upcoming sequel in sunny Australia.

Blake Harrison, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas and James Buckley will each be reprising their hilarious roles as Neil, Will, Simon and Jay in The Inbetweeners Movie 2 and will be wreaking awkward havoc on Aussie territory this month, before returning to the UK in January where they will finish shooting ahead of the film's August release date.

Creators of the popular E4 series, Iain Morris and Damon Beesley, confirmed the exciting new movie location in a statement.

They said: "We can't say too much as we don't want to spoil the jokes for you, but what we can exclusively reveal is there will be kangaroos. And Australians. And possibly koalas.

"Oh and obviously Jay, Will, Neil and Simon providing they're let into the country. Thanks so much for all your support, we're hoping to deliver a film that you'll enjoy even more than the last one."

Kangaroos and koalas? We can only imagine what kind of antics the hapless foursome will get up to when animals are involved!

It sounds like actors James and Blake are already excited about spending the next few weeks filming Down Under - if only because the Aussie bananas are bigger!

Earlier today(3 December), Blake tweeted: "Things better about Oz: 1. The bananas here are massive! Properly massive! (This is not a euphemism) 2. Premiership games r always on!"

Meanwhile, James - who became a dad for the second time this year - considered his use of language in Aus by tweeting: "I'm not actually sure what I'm legally allowed to say. Apart from G'day three jars of lager! #inbetweeners2Downunder"

The group were last seen enjoying a crazy and eventful holiday in Crete after finishing their final year of school together in the first Inbetweeners movie, which was released in 2011.

We can't wait to see the second instalment!
