Jacqueline Jossa has admitted that she's gutted her EastEnders co-star David Witts will be leaving the show this year.

The 21-year-old actress plays recovering alcoholic and former tearaway Lauren Branning on the much loved soap and she has enjoyed filming many scenes alongside David, as he plays Joey Branning - her cousin and on-off lover.

However, David has now confirmed that he will be leaving the square at Christmas, much to Jacqueline's dismay.

She told Inside Soap Yearbook 2014: "I'm devastated. We're not friends now and I've told him off! Everyone's leaving at the moment, I'm going to miss so many people. But seriously, I've loved working with David. He's one of my favourite co-stars, along with all my screen family."

Although she may be upset to see one leading 'Enders man make his exit, Jacqueline is excited to have Lauren's latest love interest, Jamie Lomas, play a bigger role in her life in the coming months.

Jacqueline and David were rumoured to be dating earlier this year, but laughed off the speculation

33-year-old actor Jamie joined the cast earlier this year and stars as fellow recovering alcoholic, Jake Stone, who Lauren met during her frequent therapy sessions.

And Jacqueline couldn't wait to get some screen time with the ex-Hollyoaks hunk.

"I love meeting new people anyway, but when I found out that it was Jamie, I couldn't wait to work with him," she said. "I loved him as Warren Fox in Hollyoaks, so I was really excited when he joined. Now I adore him, he's brilliant. He's so much fun and such a cool guy."

So with Lauren and Jake's romance appearing to blossom, could we see things get a little more serious for the couple in the future? It certainly sounds like it!

Jacqueline revealed: "There's romance for Lauren, but with a bit of a twist - that's exciting! I've been filming a lot of scenes with Jamie, so that might give you a clue."

The brunette soap star recently bagged the 'Best Actress' Inside Soap Award for her portrayal of troubled Lauren. Earlier this month, she was also forced to deny rumours that she is dating TOWIE cast member Dan Osborne after the pair were pictured together on more than one occasion.

She tweeted: "Guys leave ‪@DannyO alone, he's single and can do what he wants."
