X Factor's Abi Alton says she's gutted to have left the show but making it on the live tour has softened the blow.

The singer-songwriter was eliminated from the ITV show on Sunday night (10 November) after falling into the bottom two alongside Hannah Barrett. Both girls were members of Nicole Scherzinger's category so it was a tough night for everyone.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning today, Abi said: "It was really hard because Hannah has been in the bottom two before and I knew how much it would affect her. Hannah is a sensitive soul and I'm close to her so it was difficult."

Abi said that Nicole told her afterwards to keep pursuing her musical dreams. "I'm a singer-songwriter. I was before I entered the process and I'll carry on doing what I love to do."

The 19-year-old former checkout worker confessed that her goal was to reach week six of the competition so she fell short by seven days.

"I'm happy I even got that far," she said. "I never in a million years thought I'd get so far so I'm just thankful for the experience. My personal target was week six and I got to week five…

"I'm happy and I'm absolutely thrilled to be on the tour. I know it will be amazing. It's a dream come true for me."

Abi dissolved into tears last night when the result was announced and later said on Xtra Factor: "I really struggled with my confidences and in my performances and Nicole has helped with that. She takes time when she probably doesn't have it to sit me down and give me advice. I'm so thankful to her for believing in me and bringing me this far."

Nicole, meanwhile, was understandably devastated to have Abi and Hannah in the bottom two.

"I'm pretty gutted, I didn't expect both my girls to be in the bottom two. My favourite part of the whole night is when I saw Abi realise she was singing with Hannah and the look on her face, all she cared about the whole time was Hannah. I think that was beautiful and showed so much about her character."
