Charlie Brooks has confirmed that she is quitting EastEnders - again.

Charlie has played Janine Butcher in the BBC1 soap since 1999 but she has decided it is time to pursue other acting roles.

This will not be the first time mum-of-one Charlie has left Albert Square. She previously quit in 2004 before returning for a guest stint in 2008.

Charlie then came back full-time before taking a few months off at the end of last year.

During her break, Charlie took part in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! and was crowned Queen Of The Jungle.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Charlie said: "I decided a while ago it was time for me to leave Janine behind."

Charlie did, however, add that Janine will not be killed off, meaning that bosses are leaving the door open for her to return in the future.

Charlie is currently involved in a big murder storyline with Steve John Shepherd, who plays her ex-lover Michael Moon.

According to the report, she will leave EastEnders early next year.
