The Irishman has been judging on the ITV show since its inception ten years ago so perhaps it's no surprise he's having a hard time letting go.
During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, due to air tomorrow night, he said: "Well, I said I was [leaving] but I'm having so much fun this year, I might stay!"
This isn't the first time Louis has hinted he is reconsidering his plans to quit the long-running talent show.
He told the Radio Times he would be tempted to sign on for another year if Simon Cowell returned to the UK show for 2014.
X Factor creator Simon famously left the UK version to launch the US version, which is currently in its third series.
Louis said: "I've been doing it ten years. It's an awful long time to be on the show. I don't want to be pushed. I'd prefer to leave than be pushed. To leave on my terms. Now if Cowell came back, I might come back. The two of us, we would not stop laughing. If Simon called me up and said… but, oh well. Let's see what happens."
Music manager Louis currently judges on X Factor alongside Gary Barlow, Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne, an original judge who returned for the show's tenth series.
Sharon has confirmed she is only back for one year so won't return for 2014, while Take That star Gary announced during the first live show of 2013 that he was quitting at the end of the series.
This weekend's X Factor will have a Movie Night theme as the ten remaining acts take to the stage for their latest live performance.
