Natalie Gumede has admitted she's been shocked by the amount of technique she's had to learn ahead of her debut on Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Coronation Street actress and her pro partner Artem Chigvintsev will take to the dancelfoor for the first time on Friday night (27 September) - not that Natalie has been thinking about it!

On ITV's Daybreak today, she said: "I haven't even addressed it yet. I'm still in the safety of the rehearsal studio and quite happily cocooned in there."

Natalie said that although she danced as a child and later at drama school, that experience wasn't giving her any sort of advantage over the other competitors.

"This is so very different. I've had to unlearn everything I've known so far. It's come as a shock the amount of technique I had to go through but I'm really happy to do that. That's what I'm here for - to learn."

She added: "I just take things as they come. I think Strictly is about applying yourself and having fun whatever stage you come in the competition. The audience is key to the show and I think they respond to people who go into the rehearsal studio, do their best, and on Saturday night go out there and soak it up and enjoy it."

Artem, who previously won SCD with now-girlfriend Kara Tointon, added that Natalie has been doing really well in rehearsals and teased that viewers can expect a slightly different cha cha than they might expect from the couple of Friday.
