The official Twitter feed for the BBC One talent competition confirmed the news this morning (19 September), saying: "We have a new chief, sorry, coach. It's Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser Chiefs! Ricky, we salute you."
Ricky will join regular coaches Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am and newbie Kylie Minogue when the show returns to our screens in January 2014.
Confirming the news, Ricky said: "Who doesn't want to spend their Saturday night with Kylie Minogue? I spent last winter yelling at The Voice, and both Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am were total superstars. I'm just lucky the Kaiser Chiefs have rubber stamped my temporary loan!"
Mark Linsey, Controller, Entertainment Commissioning said: "Ricky is one of the UK music scene's great frontmen. He knows all about performance and will complement the rest of the coaching line-up perfectly."
Moira Ross, Head of Entertainment at Wall To Wall said: "Being the showman that he is, I think Ricky is the perfect addition to our coaching line-up. I'm incredibly excited about our coaches and presenters and feel sure we're on track for a fantastic series."
'I Predict A Riot' singer Ricky and Australian pop star Kylie have been brought in as replacements for Jessie J and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue who both bowed out after the second series to focus on their music commitments.
Danny won the previous series with his contestant Andrea Begley, a visually impaired singer-songwriter from Northern Ireland.
In addition to two new coaches, viewers will also have two new presenters, as Emma Willis and JLS' Marvin Humes have been brought in to replace the departed Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates.
