One Direction's first ever feature-length film gives an intimate all-access look at life on the road and charts their meteoric rise to fame, starting from their first X Factor auditions in front of Simon Cowell.
For the most part, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik are seen enjoying living life on the road, despite the fame and their gruelling schedule.
The 3D film, made by Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock, centres around One Direction's mammoth 'Take Me Home Tour.' We see their legion of adoring fans - better known as Directioners - in full support, as the boys perform in countless countries on tour, which is brought to life in amazing 3D graphics.
We see 1D shell-shocked at the prospect of performing at Madison Square Garden in New York, and famous faces pop by in their dressing room to declare themselves as fans. Who knew Martin Scorsese and Chris Rock were fully-fledged Directioners?!
With backstage footage, concert clips and candid interviews, This Is Us is very much focused on life in the band, with no mention of their love lives.
But there are moments of real empathy when the boys talk about missing home, and Liam's mum breaks down in tears after revealing she bought a cardboard cutout of her son from 1D's pop up store, just so she could look at him each day.
Despite topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic, 1D reflect on their future, knowing that one day it will all come to an end. As Liam reveals his wish to settle down with a wife and kids, the others ponder if they will remain friends. But they all make it clear, that for now, it's all about having fun.
One Direction: This Is Us is released on Thursday 29 August.
