Jessica Simpson and Nicole Richie's reality series Fashion Star has been cancelled.

The fashion competition ran in the US for two seasons but yesterday it was confirmed by NBC's entertainment president Bob Greenblatt that the show would not return for a third run.

Jessica and Nicole served as mentors on the series, which aimed to give up-and-coming designers the chance to showcase their skills in front of some of the States' biggest brands, with the hopes of being stocked in their retail stores.

British-born stylist Louise Roe was the host of the second series, replacing Elle Macpherson, who also hosts Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model.

Jessica and Nicole, however, won't be short of things to do.

Former Newlyweds star Jessica recently gave birth to her second child, Ace, and is planning a wedding to her former NFL star fiancé Eric Johnson.

She's also got a multi-million pound business to run which includes clothing, accessories, beauty products and shoes.

Nicole, meanwhile, is mum to two children with her Good Charlotte rocker husband Joel Madden and has business interests including her own fashion line.
