The actor has signed a one-year contract with the award-winning BBC soap and will be taking on the character of Jake Stone, a recovering alcoholic with a "sexy and seductive" side to him.
Speaking about his new job at Albert Square, Jamie said: "I'm over the moon to be joining the cast of EastEnders.
"I have admired the show for many years and I can't wait to start working with such a strong cast of actors. Jake Stone is a great character to play and I'm really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck into the role."
And of course, the 33-year-old is no stranger to starring in a popular soap opera, as he is best known for playing bad boy Warren Fox on Hollyoaks for three years.
EastEnders' executive producer, Lorraine Newman, has also spoken out about how excited she is to welcome Jamie to the show and she is certain that he will "make an impact".
However, his new gig at the BBC might make for a little bit of rivalry at home, since his wife Kym Marsh plays Weatherfield regular, Michelle Connor, in Coronation Street!
