The Only Way Is Essex's Billie Faiers has spoken out about the criticism her sister Sam receives on social media and she has defended the new mum's recent decision to take baby son Paul to a model casting.

Last week, mum-of-one Sam Faiers took to Instagram to reveal that she had booked her baby son Paul in for modelling, but the idea of putting him in front of the professional camera had her fans and followers incredibly divided.

As soon as Sam posted the snap, her feed was inundated with comments from people who believed that the tot is way too young to model.

"As I'm sure he would rather be at home playing with his his toys than on some daft photoshoot," wrote one Insta-user while another, who agreed wholeheartedly, said, "The word "casting" is competitive and greedy. Purely money making. Children don't need extra pressure when growing up. When does it stop."

Busy mum Sam didn't reply to any of the comments, even though many more leapt to her defence, but talking to Reveal at her In The Style high summer collection launch, her older sister Billie had something to say about it!

Billie mentioned that instead of voicing her opinion on social media Sam brought up the criticism she had received when the pair were behind closed doors, "I didn't even know about this until [Sam] mentioned it to me!," gasped Billie.

"Paul is six months old and hes such an easygoing, laid-back baby. Samantha will never put herself in a position where she knows the baby will be unhappy but if for some reason the baby isn't happy she will take him out of the situation."

The stunner - who is mum to little Nelly - went on to explain that Sam would never put baby Paul in a situation that could upset him.

"We've been sitting in restaurants before and she will sometimes say, "Do you know what, I'm just going to go home," so she would never make him feel uncomfortable," she said.

Billie continued, "Two or three years down the line he'll be a toddler and he might not want to do that stuff but they can tell you at that age. At the moment now, he doesn't really know what's going on so as long as he's happy, it's fine. You can give Paul a blanket and he will sit and play with it for hours – he's such a good baby. On holiday we didn't even know we had him with us!"

When asked why she thinks people tend to judge Sam so harshly, Billie said it might have something to do with TV show The Baby Diaries, which documented Sam and partner Paul adjusting to parenthood.

"I think they judge her harshly as backlash because people gave Paul [Sam's partner] a lot of stick." She continued, "It's weird because when you're a mum in the public eye, everything you do is judged. But she's like me and we don't tend to take any notice. You can't, because everyone thinks they can do a better job than you and everyone thinks they're right. It's quite sad really."

"In this day and age, people are pessimists. They're negative and they want to put a downer on everything but I just think, get over it!," Billie finished.
