Celebrity stylist Alex Longmore has told us exactly how to nail the faux fur trend.

Alex is brand ambassador for ibis hotels Rich & Famous campaign; which is all about living the life of the rich and famous for less.

Enter faux fur, once the reserve of the rich and famous who stuck firmly to brown and nude hues - the luxe look has had a multicoloured revival and now everyone from students to celebs are adorning themselves in affordable and fun fabric.

Covering everything from quirky clutches to 70's style jackets as worn by MIC's Louise Thompson, it can be a daunting trend to incorporate into a wearable everyday look - so we asked Alex to dish out her top tips:

"Faux fur is having a major fashion moment this season, it's literally on every celebrity's back and that's really thanks to the brilliant label SHRIMP who made bright neon fur so popular last season.

"Suddenly it was OK to wear, and the quality much improved with no more synthetic rubbish around. The trend has carried on this season, and is really big for winter. The faux look is not just reserved for coats and jackets, it's everywhere from fur stoles to trimmings for bobble hats to clutch bags.

"A lot of clients tell me they are intimidated by trying this trend especially with the look being all about bright colours. My advice would be to wear what feels right for you.

"If you're outgoing then embrace the neon look and go for the brightest pink you can find, but if you're a more reserved type there are some great neutral tones around, and you can't beat a black fur jacket for looking extra chic."

Alex continued: "I absolutely love the leopard print look and think this works on everyone. I have just purchased a killer faux coat from Topshop which is reminiscent of the Saint Laurent version that Miss Moss has been spotted around town in recently.

"Stoles are a great way to complement the look and carry it off without too much commitment. Made In Chelsea's Millie Mackintosh and Rosie Fortescue looked so great at London Fashion Week wearing theirs and its such a good alternative for this time of year when its warm but there is beginning to be a nip in the air.
