Lucy Mecklenburgh has teamed up with Pretty Little Thing once more, and we're lusting after the entire range of 70s inspired party pieces.

Unfortunately for us buying every single garment isn't actually an option (boo), so to help ease the pain we asked Lucy to pick out a few of her favourite pieces and give us a style masterclass.

"This collection is really different from my last one." Lucy told us at the launch of her collection. "As it's for Autumn and Winter there's lots of lace, sparkles and sequins. There's a lot more going out stuff which is really nice, there's more of a celebratory, party feel. It's a bigger range than the last, so there's an outfit for every occasion."

Think celeb collaborations mean nothing more than sticking a famous face on the ad campaigns? Not true as it turns out...

"I actually designed every piece myself this time." Lucy told us. "With this collection I was involved with everything from start to finish which has been amazing. I made mood boards, chose the colour palette, and changed designs to get exactly what I wanted.

"I wanted to create clothes that were inspired by the 60s and 70s trends, but were still wearable. I get scared if I see something in the shops that's over the top, so I took elements from dresses I loved and adapted them to create my dream wardrobe. It was so much fun I've just really enjoyed the whole process."

"My favourite piece in the collection is the Polli Cream Lace Bib Swing Dress you can wear it with heels or flats.

"This Emmaline two-piece is great because it's a fun take on the 70s style trend. The trousers have a subtle flare which I love."

"I also love the pleat dresses, they're just really easy to wear - and the loose fit means you can actually enjoy a big dinner in them!"

Lucy has been dating Olympic athlete Louis Smith since the end of last year and the loved up couple make a very stylish duo. So who better to advise on the ultimate date night style?

"For a date night I'd wear something that's a bit sexy. I love the Felicia Black Crochet Lace Skater Dress because it's really pretty and quite covered up with the lace overlay but it's still got the short length which is a bit cheeky.

"My favourite date with Louis was actually our first one. We stayed in at his and he cooked me dinner, then we watched Strictly Come Dancing and he was showing me how to do all the dance moves!" Very smooth, Louis was crowned Strictly champ back in 2012 and it sounds like he's used it to his advantage!

"He made a big platter piled with cheese, ham and crackers and we drunk red wine. Then we had champagne in the hot tub. It was amazing." Hands up who else is green with envy?

If there's one thing we can pretty much always justify purchasing, it's a day to night piece that works for any occasion given the right accessories. And Lucy knew exactly what to pick.

"I'd go for this Kay Grey Pleated Long Sleeved Mini Dress in the day I'd team it with a cute pair of white brogues, a big handbag and a 70s style floppy hat. You could also wear it with the White Crop Shirt underneath. For the evening I'd wear it with platform heels, a clutch."
