Flats – you either love 'em or you hate 'em.

With the likes of Kim Kardashian and sister Kylie Jenner virtually living in their heels, you'd be forgiven for thinking that sky-high is the only way to go when it comes to putting together an outfit.

But in the name of happy feet, we've decided to give our heels the elbow – and our toes are seriously thanking us for it. Here's how you too can slay, sans the stilettos!

All that glitters is in fact gold – comfy, super-stylish gold.

FROW regular Olivia Palermo re-wrote the party dressing rulebook when she stepped out at a glitzy New York bash in these dazzling flats. Emblazoned with chunky jewels, her pointed toe shoes dressed up her totally casual ensemble a treat and she was able to party well into the early hours without the dreaded burn.

We're kinda obsessed with these babies from M&S. Complete with a jazzy silk pattern and a peppering of eye-popping gems, they nail two A/W trends in one – you'd be a fool not to snap them up!

Make it mismatch.

Make like We Are Your Friends actress Emily Ratajkowski and mix it up a little when putting your next laid-back outfit together. Tan flats would have looked awesome, but the stunning star opted for this shark grey pair that really popped against her brown jacket and black skinny jeans.

Nail the androgynous trend with a good old fashioned brogue.

Model turned actress Cara Delevingne is the queen of this year's androgynous trend – and we can't get enough of this boot-brogue fusion which she wore laced up loosely for a Fashion Week appearance.

We also love this Tbar pump-style pair from George which are a steal at £14. The more ornate the embroidered pattern, the better – they're a trans-seasonal staple - just avoid pastel tones.

It's all-white.

X Factor judge Rita Ora can't do without her retro-style Adidas Campus and they always have to be white. Invest in a sturdy pair and team them with mum jeans that sit low on the hip, alongside a ribbed cropped top for that effortless, L.A vibe. Simply throw on a longline duster jacket to take you through to the chillier months.
