When we're having a bit of a meltdown in the morning and the contents of our wardrobe is strewn all over the floor, nine times out of ten we'll make like the gorge Kylie Jenner and reach for our failsafe skinnies - but this new nugget of information could seriously burst our super-stylish bubble...
Medics have recently brought an unusual yet TOTALLY REAL wardrobe malfunction to our attention - and we're not talking nip-slips or visible pant lines here.
According to doctors notes in the Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, an unfortunate Aussie woman was hospitalised and placed on a drip (yep, a drip) after her favourite pair of skinny jeans caused her pins to swell significantly, resulting in her collapsing in extreme pain.
The Australian woman - who hasn't been named - had to have her bottoms cut away from her legs after she reportedly spent hours crouching in her figure hugging ensemble while packing boxes for a house move.
The poor mite was unable to feel her feet at the end of the day and tripped over, only to realise that she couldn't muster the strength to pick herself up off of the ground due to muscle damage.
The likes of Victoria Beckham, Sam Faiers and The Duchess of Cambridge AKA Kate Middleton are huge fans of the casual wardrobe staples but this story might just make them sack the stylist and re-think their next sartorial choice!
Docs discovered that the Aussie lady's skinny jeans reduced blood supply to her leg muscles which in turn, paralysed her nerves. However, thankfully, she was soon able to walk unaided - but only after having spent a whole FOUR days tucked up in a hospital bed.
The hospital also warned that wearing tight clothes for a prolonged period can actually bring on compartment syndrome caused by bleeding or swelling around the muscles. Horrific!
It takes the age-old saying 'fashion before pain' to a whole new level, doesn't it? Dress safely, people!
