From the moment Kate Middleton announced her pregnancy in December, royal baby fever has been sweeping the planet. Will it be a boy or a girl? What will be the name? When will it be born?

As we count down the days (or hours, depending on what source you're reading), until Kate and husband Prince William become parents, take a look at her pregnancy in pictures in our gallery below.

Kate will give birth to her first child in the private Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London; the same place that Prince William and his brother Prince Harry were born.

The child will be third-in-line to the throne after Prince Charles and Prince William.

Following tradition, the medical staff will sign an official birth announcement that will then be taken by a royal aide - via police escort - to Buckingham Palace where it will be attached to an easel, allowing us all to see whether it's a little Prince or Princess of Cambridge.

The Queen, Kate's parents and senior members of the royal family will be told beforehand.
