I caught up with reader Gemma Bentley, 19, a fashion journalism student from Bournemouth, who wanted a smart new look when she starts back at Uni in a few weeks. Here's how she can achieve that on trend preppy look to fit her boyish figure.

If you have a slim and small hipped figure...you're BOYISH

Gemma's boyish frame looks great in preppy pieces. Tailored checked trousers show off her slim legs, and a buttoned-up shirt looks neat & chic – I've chosen a lacy one to soften the look, and white brogues which are more feminine

Coat, £60 Next
Blouse, £20, popcouture.co.uk
Trousers, £38, Next
Brogues, £65, Schuh

If you have an hourglass figure...you're CURVY

Preppy looks aren't just for boyish figures. A pencil skirt is perfect for curvier shapes, and a fitted hacking jacket will emphasise an hourglass shape.

I'm loving the traditional monochrome check - it's a hot trend or autumn. So here's how to be a dogtooth diva!

This must-have pattern comes in different sizes, so you have to be careful in selecting one that works for your figure type. As a rule bigger checks are great for adding curves to skinnies, and if you're curvy go for smaller checks.

If you have a small bust, small waist and curvier hips...you're PEAR

Here's reader model, Jade Harding, a 20 year old student from Southampton. I showed her how to make the trend work for her figure. And doesn't she look amazing?

Pear and curvy figure types are well suited to smaller checks, as they will slim your silhouette. The peplum on this dress skims Jade's hips and creates a more streamlined shape. Adding bold flashes of colour keeps this look young and fun, and I've also clashed with these really cool dogtooth tights.

Dress, £45, M&Co
Bag, £30, River Island
Gloves, £22, Accessorize
Tights, £8.49, Pamela Mann @ tightsplease.co.uk

When Reveal reader, Sabina Qureshi, turned up for a glamorous Gok-over, I couldn't help but notice her pin-up girl curves!

I knew she would look fabulous in this floral dress from Topshop (£48).

The large, all-over print is great for smoothing your silhouette, and a peplum will give you an instantly defined waist, however big your hips.

But a peplum is only one of a host of details that will flatter the curves you love, whilst disguising those you're not so fond of.

Here are my top picks…

Miss Modee: rise dress

Disguise big thighs

Turn your worst enemy into your best friend with an A-line dress. The full, knee-length skirt will not only skim over your thighs and make your calves appear slimmer, but together, the A shape of the skirt and the inverted triangle shape of the V neck creates an hourglass shape.

Dress, £40, risefashion.co.uk

Miss Mode: Swan by Clements Ribero Evans dress

Cover bingo wings

A ¾ sleeve is the perfect solution, as it shows off the slimmest part of your arm. Lace panels give a hint of sex appeal. You could add a waist belt to cinch this in at the waist, but it also works in this looser, tunic-style shape.

Dress, £75, Swan by Clements Ribeiro for Evans

Miss Mode: a wear dress

Flatter a big bust

Large busts can look matronly in the wrong neckline, but a V neck will flatter your cleavage beautifully. This wrap style is perfect if you don't want to show too much flesh.

Dress, £45, Closet at awear.com

Gok Wan gives his advice on buying the right bra!

Wednesday, July 18 2012, 16:58 BST
Reveal met up with Gok Wan at the launch of his latest shapewear collection for Simply Be. Here are his top tips for finding your perfect bra online!

Gok Wan with underwear
Gok Wan for Simply Be

What are the biggest mistakes women make when buying underwear?
"They don't buy any, that's the biggest mistake!" says Gok. "A lot of women are wearing the same bras they've had since they were 13, and they forget that their bodies have changed. You think you're still fitting into the same underwear but all the elastic has gone, or you're literally on the last hooks. So you do need to update underwear."

So what are your top tips for underwear shopping?
"Buy underwear that you feel comfortable in, and buy it for two reasons - for controlling your curves or for sex! Buy underwear for different parts of your life. Make sure you've got some basics and some sexy pieces and don't be afraid of using underwear as outerwear."

And what should every woman have in her underwear collection?
"Two bras, definitely a minimum of two bras! One body, one slip, one pair of French knickers, one G-string or thong for the right dress. Control underwear throughout. And a gorgeous smile!"

How can you make sure you're buying the right size if you're shopping for a bra online?
"Measuring yourself is tricky so get your girlfriend or sister to measure you as per the guidelines on the website. If it's your first purchase, buy the size you think you are, and the size above and below as well. Whichever ones don't fit you can return."

Watch our full video interview with Gok here:

Gok's latest collection for Simply Be is available to buy online at SimplyBe.co.uk, from 20 July 2012.
