Spice Girls
The Spice Girls, made up of Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Mel C and Mel B, are a British girl group. They are most famous for their huge success in the late '90s.
The Spice Girls are also known as Ginger, Baby, Posh, Sporty and Scary. Geri Halliwell's union jack dress, worn at the 1997 BRIT Awards ceremony has become a widely recognised piece of British pop culture.
The group achieved 9 UK number one singles out of their 11 releases, which included debut single 'Wannabe' as well as 'Who Do You Think You Are' and 'Spice Up Your Life'.
In 1998 Halliwell left the group due to differences with other band members. The news caused an international news storm but the remaining four members carried on without her until the early 2000s.
The group reformed in 2007 for 'The Return of the Spice Girls' world tour and released a new single 'Headlines (Friendship Never Ends)'. They also reunited in 2012 at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
