When Kim Kardashian stepped out in Cannes earlier this week, it wasn't her elaborately embellished dress that garnered the most attention but her absolutely stunning eye make-up!

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star usually keeps her peepers clean, save for a few individual lashes and a dab of highlighter in the inner corners, but for the De Grisogono party she went all out with a heavy lashing of jet-black kohl eyeliner.

And we fell head over heels for the sultry, smoky look.

Kim's make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic was the mastermind behind the eye-popping trend but instead of reaching for the Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel or Dior as usual, he looked to a much more affordable beauty brand...

Believe it or not, Mario used the Cargo Cosmetics Waterproof Eye Pencil in Black (a total steal at £12, FYI) to fashion Kimmy's feline flick and now we know exactly how he did it!

"I used Cargo Cosmetics Swimmables Waterproof Eye Pencil in black to line the inner rims of her eyes all around on the top and bottom," Mario mentioned on Kim's website and app.

The glam god continued, "Then using a small brush, I applied a matte black shadow along the lower lash line over the pencil and extended [it] outward and upward [but] I didn't line the top lid or apply much shadow to [it]."

To nab Kim's look, we'd suggest using the oh-so-simple dot technique. Using the tip of the pencil, rim your top and bottom lash line with a series of dots and use a small brush to connect and blend them together in swift strokes.

Take the same brush and dab it in into a matte black eyeshadow (we love M.A.C's Black Tide, £16) and simply layer this on top. To create the wing, just extend the shadow up to the end of the eyebrow using a series of quick swiping motions.

Finish the look with lashings of black mascara but keep your lips undressed so your peepers pack a punch. Easy peasy!
