Hey Beau! What bargain high-street beauty buys are you loving at the moment?
Over the past few weeks I keep finding myself going back to the benefit counter and you can get everything in Boots. I've been loving really glowy looks lately so they're wide range of liquid & cream illuminators have been a must haves! My favourites are Watts Up, £24.50 (amazing because it's not glittery at all and gives the perfect amount of glow!) and Sun Beam, £19.50 which is literally sunshine in a bottle and gives the most beautiful gold glow - amazing for darker skin tones.
There are definitely a few high street brands that I've loved for a while that get even better every season - Sleek MakeUP. They do some of the most beautiful blushes and their cream highlighter quad is amazing quality and value for money.
Makeup Revolution is also is also amazing! They have a huge range of palettes from eyeshadow to contouring and all of them blend beautifully. Each shade boasts a bold pigment so if you haven't tried their products I highly recommend them.
What products can you just not live without?
My Beauty Blender is an absolute staple in my make-up bag. I use it for most of my face make-up (concealer and foundation) and it gives the most flawless finish for the illusion of 'airbrushed skin.' The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, £5.99 is equally as amazing for 1/3 of the price. Using upward dabbing motions gives a good amount of coverage and gives a seamless finish!
You're all probably aware of how much I love my M.A.C Pigment pots, but I truly adore the Naked pigment, £16. I use this on a daily basis in my tear ducts, under my brow bone, my Cupid's bow and I also make a little circle on the end of my nose to fake a cute button nose.
Charlotte Tilbury's Lip Cheat in Iconic Nude, £16 is a pencil every girl should treat herself to! This is my go to for the 'no make-up make-up' look and heavy evening glam. Benefit Hoola Bronzing Powder, £23.50 has definitely made a comeback for me this year. I have no idea why i stopped using it! It's the perfect brown shade with no orange tones so it gives a truly sun kissed glow. But the best thing about it is that it's completely matte so it looks really natural.
Lastly, my Mario Badescu Facial Spray, £5.95 (Kylie Jenner is also a fan) is amazing. Not only does it smell stunning but it's a multi use product so I use it when my face feels dry, just to rehydrate. When I feel I may have over-done my powder it's soaks up the excess and it sets make-up, meaning it last for hours.
What's the best way to apply and blend highlighter so that it looks natural?
For a natural highlight, I like to use a cream or liquid illuminator. I typically apply with my fingers to the high points of the face and then blend with my beauty blender. For a more striking highlight I will use the same steps but then I will apply a powder highlight on top with a fan brush (spritz with M.A.C's Prep & Prime Fix +, £17 to intensify the glow).
What's your favourite lash brand and do you have any top application tips?
Huda Beauty lashes are definitely a favourite of mine! They have recently made they're way to the UK via www.cultbeauty.co.uk and I'm obsessed. The Farrah and Samantha styles are my favourites. For a more affordable lash I love Salon Services. Their lashes are amazing value for money and the 109's have been my go-tos for a while now
Let the glue go slightly tacky before applying and always make sure you've measured the lash to your eye. Start from the inner corner and work your way outwards. Also tilt your head backwards. This way you can see what you're doing with out blinking too much.
You're famous for making-over TOWIE's Georgia and Kate! If you had complete free reign over their faces, what looks would you give them?
I'm quite lucky that both Georgia and Kate are very adventurous and open to trying new makeup looks but I have to say I love Georgia with a dark smokey eye as she has gorgeous dark brown eyes. We both love to apply a nude eyeliner to give her the illusion of bigger eyes.
As for Kate she looks amazing when we add a colour into her look - either into her eye shadow or her lipstick. She's a huge lover of a dark nude or mauve lip.
Are there any really clever beauty tricks of hacks that you've learnt since becoming a celeb make-up artist?
If you struggle with eyeliner or would like to create a winged eyeshadow look definitely give the tape trick a go. Using a small piece of scotch tape (dab on the back of your hand to tack some of the tackiness away) apply underneath the bottom lash line following up towards the tail of the eyebrow.
You can be as messy as you want and when you peel the tape away you have a beautiful clean and sharp wing!
Do the TOWIE girls go rummaging through your make-up bag? Do they ever ask if they can take certain products? If so, which ones do they love?
Funnily enough, if either of the girls see a product I'm using on them that they like they immediately order it so they nearly have the same makeup kit as me! There have been a few occasions when they have borrowed lipsticks and glosses to top up their lips throughout the evening. (Kate is a big lover of Whirl, Taupe and Persistence by M.A.C! Georgia loves Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Penelope Pink, £23 and M.A.C's Honey Love, £15.50.
What advice would you give to aspiring young make-up artists starting out?
Practise makes perfect! Honestly, the majority of what I know now is from trial and error along with a lot of patience. Also there's no such thing as too much blending!
