Even though Bey's tresses looked as though it had taken Neal hours of tugging, teasing and preening, the hair maestro revealed that her locks actually took a matter of minutes, and was put together as they geared up to leave for the star-studded bash.
Bey's original look was reminiscent of the theme of the night, an Oriental inspired chignon, but the star decided against the cute bun in favour of something a little different...
Speaking to US Weekly, Neal said: "We were in the elevator on the way down, and she looks at me and says, 'Neal, I want to change my hair, will you change my hair?'
"She says, 'You have 5 minutes.' and I said 'Girl, what do you want me to do with the hair?'"
The quick thinking hair genius agreed with Bey when she said she would prefer a high ponytail, admitting that the first look just wasn't right for the evening.
The finished result consisted of flowing ombre waves and an extra wraparound detail at the base of the ponytail for a flawless finish, which complemented Beyoncé's gorgeous embellished gown perfectly.
Poor Neal! We can't imagine the pressure he must have been put under in that tiny little lift. But if Queen Bey tells you to change her hair, you change it!
However, there were no hard feelings at all, as Neal gushed about his love for the songstress in a tell all interview with the American publication.
"She is a powerhouse and she knows what she wants," he said. "I have to pay her a compliment. Beyoncé takes us all out of our comfort zone, and she pushes us to be the most artistic we can be with her."
