While many of us um and ah for ages when it comes to taking the plunge and cutting our hair, it seems X Factor judge Cheryl chose to go short on impulse.
Speaking on ITV's This Morning, her stylist Paul Percival said: "It was a spontaneous moment. We talked about just doing a trim, and then we were like 'lets just do it'... so yeah, I'm super happy."
Paul - from top London salon Percy & Reed - did say he and Chez had spoken about an image change before, but he hadn't been expecting it to happen when it did.
"It was something that we'd talked about for a while, she [Cheryl] had been mentioning going shorter for a little while and she's the bravest woman in the world because it was in the changing room [at The Graham Norton Show]."
"We had an hour and we literally cut the whole lot off - fourteen inches - and totally changed her look. When I realised we had an hour to do it, there was a certain amount of pressure!" he added.
"To be honest, she knows exactly what it is she wants… and yes, there were other people in the room and you hear the odd gasp, but she's strong willed and we were both pretty sure. She's a great canvas at the end of the day, it's very difficult to go wrong, so we went for it. The positive feedback has been great."
Phillip Schofield joked that perhaps Paul's services wouldn't be needed now he'd chopped all the star's locks off, prompting the stylist to reply: "I've done myself out of a job! No, I saw her last night, I'm sure I'll still be busy."
Cheryl, 31, flaunted her new 'do via Instagram this week, drawing comparisons to Victoria Beckham's 'pob' back in 2007.
She also went for a new colour, choosing L'Oréal Paris Casting Creme Gloss in Berry Red.
