Forget multi-tasking with a hairdryer and round brush, these nifty electricals (plus tricks from the royal hairdresser Richard Ward) make things a whole lot easier.
'Electrical hot brushes are lifesavers for creating a blow-dry effect on yourself at home. My favourite is Diva's (tested below),' the royals' mane man Richard tells me.
'Rough dry your hair first,' he says. 'For lift at the roots, place the brush underneath and pull upwards. Repeat several times before working on the mid-lengths to ends of that section, using your hands to roll the ends under slightly for a smooth finish.' You can use them on dry locks too. 'Try one when you're heading out after work - just spritz each section with a light hairspray first to make your style hold,' he uncovers.
Lessons I've learnt? Make sure your locks are knot-free first. I love The Wet Brush, £11.99. And a heat-protecting mousse like TRESemme Thermal Creations Volumising Mousse, £5.75, is a must.
HEATED ELECTRICAL BLOW-DRY BRUSHES: TRIED AND TESTED
Diva Radiant Shine Ionic Thermal Heated Brush 40mm, £19.99
'This heats up rather than blowing out hot air so best for a pick-me-up in the morning or before a night out. In just a few minutes it took my style from so-so to super polished-looking. I love how lightweight it is too.'
Lee Stafford My Big Fat Bouncy Blow Out Brush, £34.99
'My new Saturday night essential! I got the hang of it within minutes. While it didn't smooth my mid-lengths, for cheating a voluminous, 'backcombed' effect at the roots, it's amazing.'
Nicky Clarke Frizz Control Smooth and Shine Hot Air Styler, £22.99
'Fab value for money, this comes with different attachments. The barrel's big which made it tricky to get into my roots but it left my locks silky as if I'd straightened them. It heats up well too.'
Babyliss New Big Hair Spinning Brush, £44.99
'I can see why this is a bestseller. It dried my damp locks in minutes. The rotating brush head takes a while to master but it's great for adding a wave to the ends.'
