Although, let's face it, actress Halle could pretty much do ANYTHING with her hair and look fantastic, right?!

Halle, 48, has explained in the past that her famous short hair was a result of when she was starting out in Hollywood and wanted to stand out from the crowd. Her answer? Lop off her long locks - and clearly it worked!

"I've had long hair until I was about 18 or 19, when I first started acting. I would go to auditions and see every other girl in the room with long, curly hair -- whether it be natural or weaved in," she told Huffington Post.

Halle was rocking her trademark pixie crop in August.

"I remember thinking this isn't working for me. I have to somehow be different from these girls, so I cut all my hair off... Cutting my hair was freeing. Someone saying you're beautiful and the fact that you have no hair makes you even more beautiful."

Halle showed off her gorgeous and sleek new look while attending CAA's School Day Benefitting Communities in Schools in Los Angeles on Thursday (18 September).

The Oscar-winning actress is a mum of two: daughter Nahla, five, and baby son Maceo, who was born in October 2013.
