It's not often we spot Renée Zellweger sauntering down the red carpet, but yesterday (10 March) she was back with a bang as she stepped out at a charity event in San Francisco.

The Bridget Jones' Diary actress, 44, made her first public appearance in a whopping five months, attending the Benefit for Painted Turtle: A Starry Evening of Music Comedy, and Surprises.

But despite her public hiatus, the starlet looked totally comfortable as she struck a pose while wearing barely any make-up.

Renée swapped the smoky eyeshadow for a very thin line of black liner across her upper lashes, while her mascara was almost undetectable.

She also shunned the eyebrow pencil, letting her natural arches do all the talking on their own.

On her lips Renée wore a 'my lips but better' shade of pink and she skipped the powder, opting for a dewy glow.

The Chicago actress even kept things fuss-free on her nails, sporting short talons without a scrap of polish.

Meanwhile, on the fashion front Renée chose a simple black dress featuring a demure below-the-knee hemline and three-quarter length sleeves.

She kept the rest of her outfit classic, accessorising with a pearl necklace before finishing her look with plain peep-toe heels.

Renée appears to be making a comeback on the film scene too as she's reportedly in talks to star in new flick The Whole Truth alongside Daniel Craig.
