Victoria Beckham's manicurist predicts hottest nail trend for 2014!

Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Lopez, Anne Hathaway and Zooey Deschanel all have one thing in common – they have amazing nails because of the fabulous paintwork of top celebrity manicurist, Tom Bachik.

And while the rest of us can only dream of having someone like Tom tend to our talons, we CAN take note of the nail colour he reckons is going to be the biggest trend for 2014...

The clue is in this picture of Miley Cyrus (below)!

Yes, if Tom's predictions are anything to go by, white promises to be 'the' nail colour for 2014.

White has already graced some of our favourite A-listers' nails during the summer of last year, with Kim Kardashian, Jessie J and obviously our Miley all rocking sexy, white manicures.

But it's set to be even bigger this year, reckons Tom...

"One of the hottest trends we'll see everywhere in 2014 is white," said Tom in a recent interview with E! News.

"White looks great and can be worn on nails all year round. It's fresh and young yet edgy and chic."

Tom has already showed off his white polishing skills on J.Lo and we reckon Posh will definitely be doing white in the next few months as she rarely wears anything other than monochrome and nude colours.

So what's the trick to nailing this trend?

Well, like any eye-catching nail colour, your nails need to be in impeccable condition to carry it off, so ensure your cuticles are pushed back and well conditioned, and your nails are buffed and filed to exactly the same length.

Next, choose your polish wisely as white can look amazing in the bottle only for it to be too sheer, wishy-washy or even worse, pearly (gasp!) when you apply it to your nails.

Opaque is the way to go and these gems (below) will do the job very nicely indeed.

First, apply a milky coloured base coat as this will help give the best opaque finish possible. Try Butter London Nail Foundation Flawless Base Coat, £15,

Next apply two (or even three) thin coats of polish, making sure you stay away from your skin and cuticles. And don't worry if the first coat is streaky, just get it on, let it dry, then cover up the streaks with your second coat.

Finally, when your nails are totally touch-dry, apply a glossy top coat to stop your nails looking like Tipp-Ex (soooo not a good look).
