Proving the perils of choosing the wrong concealer, the Strictly Come Dancing contestant stepped out with bizarre white marks under her eyes.
Sophie was snapped as she headed to the ITV studios with dance partner, Brendan Cole. We've always wondered how she stays looking so radiant despite juggling endless dance rehearsals with looking after three children but now it seems her secret's out the bag... a hefty amount of concealer!
So what caused her beauty faux pas this time?
It's all down to light-reflecting pigments in 'brightening' or 'illuminating' concealers which are fabulous at disguising dark circles and puffiness but not so great when it comes to photos!
If you're too heavy-handed with these types of concealer, the light from the camera flash can bounce back creating a bright, white effect known as 'the reverse racoon!'
The solution? If you know you're set to be snapped a lot, steer clear of concealers and foundation containing 'titanium dioxide' - the main culprit when it comes to creating 'flashback.'
And stay away from concealers that are too white. You may think they're a good weapon against bags but peach or pink-tones are much better at cancelling out dark circles.
Your best bet is to choose a concealer especially designed for photography. We love Revlon PhotoReady Concealer, £6.49, and Smashbox High Definition Liquid Concealer, £17.
Sophie's make-up malfunction may have been a little unfortunate for her but at least it's given us all a lesson in choosing the right concealer, just in time for party season!
