Awesome hair alert: Alexa Chung rarely strays from her tousled bob but she's now flaunted a far sassier look!

The presenter shot straight to the top of our 'hair we want' list after sharing a photo of her fabulous new 'do on Twitter earlier today (15 November).

Not only has she given her chocolate tresses a cool-over with mermaid hues, she's also whipped the whole thing up into a cute milkmaid braid. Brilliant work, Alexa!

We love this style so much, we're already equipped with some hair chalks and a brush for our own barnet overhaul.

If you fancy doing the same, follow these easy-peasy steps:

1. Start by brushing through your hair to get rid of tangles, then style in a middle parting. Next, grab yourself some hair chalks.

Alexa used the L'Oréal Professionnel Hair Chalks, £15 each, which you paint on your strands using the in-built applicator. Your new look then lasts up to two washes before rinsing out.

Alternatively, you could try Bumble and Bumble Limited Edition Spray Chalks, £15 each, which mist over your tresses before coming out during your next wash.

Colour without the commitment? We like!

Go for any shade you like - Alexa chose a mixture of blue and purple with a tiny hint of green adorning the very tips of her bonce.

2. Allow your colour to dry, then split your hair into two sections on either side of your head. Plait one side all the way to the ends before securing with an invisible hair elastic. Gently tease your braid to make it a bit thicker. Repeat this step on the other side.

3. Finally, take one plait and wrap over the front of your head like a headband. Secure in place with bobby pins, then do the same with the braid on the opposite side of your head.

The best thing about hair chalks? You can try a new colour every single day.

We'll take one in each shade, please!
